Did you know Elle Fanning has an Instagram account? We bet you did not because the Maleficent star keeps it private, and only allows her close friends and family to follow her!

But, but… why?

During an interview with i-D, the 17-year old starlet revealed she does not think her account is cool enough to share. Elle stated,

“Will a piece of me go away if I touch that button that makes it public? Who knows? But it just seems like such a hard job. People always have witty captions and great photos and mine does not look like that, at all. Oh, the pressure of being cool…”

Oh Elle, please just hit the public button so we can follow you already! We bet you have some pretty amazing post to share, and we would love to hit “Like” right now. [Source]

Elle Fanning’s transgender drama About Ray is being delayed from its scheduled Sept. 18 release date.

No new date has been set for The Weinstein Company project, but it’s expected to be released before the end of this year. Deadline was first to report the news.

About Ray stars Fanning as Ray, a transgender teen who comes out to his family. The film, which also stars Naomi Watts and Susan Sarandon, recently had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

“I definitely knew it would be a huge challenge to do — I definitely have never done anything like that before. I have a lot of transgender friends who go to my school and have made a transition over the summer,” Fanning told JD Heyman at the PEOPLE, InStyle and Entertainment Weekly’s photo studio in Toronto. “Reading this story and how current it seems. It’s not just about a transgender teen, it’s about family and how everyone is dealing with it. I just love Ray, and love the story.” [Source]

A24 has acquired U.S. rights to John Cameron Mitchell’s How to Talk to Girls at Parties.

The film, which is set to start production in November, is based on an award-winning short story by Neil Gaiman and stars Elle Fanning, Nicole Kidman and Alex Sharp, the breakout star and Tony Award winner for his performance in The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time.

HanWay is handling international sales for the film at the Toronto Film Festival, but the domestic deal was in progress well before the TIFF began.

Gaiman is executive producing, while Howard Gertler (How To Survive a Plague, Mitchell’s Shortbus) is producing alongside Iain Canning and Emile Sherman (Shame, Macbeth).

The love story focuses on Enn, a shy teenage punk rocker in 1970s suburban London, and his two closest friends, Vic and John. One night they all sneak into a party where they meet a group of intensely attractive, otherworldly girls; at first they think they’re from a cult, but eventually come to realize the girls are literally from another world — outer space. The leaders of this alien colony have a nefarious plan in mind, but that doesn’t stop Enn from falling madly in love with Zan, one of the colony’s key members. Their burgeoning romance sets in motion a series of increasingly sensational events that will lead to the ultimate showdown of punks vs. aliens and test the bonds of friendship, family and true love.

The highly anticipated drama “About Ray” screened at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) this weekend. The film follows Ray (Elle Fanning) who decides to transition from female to male, while his mother Maggie (Naomi Watts) tries to understand her son’s decision, as well as hunt down his father Craig (Tate Donovan) for legal parental consent.

On Saturday, Fanning and Watts discussed the film with People, sharing some insight into how Fanning prepared for the role. “I had a lot of transgender friends that go to my school, who made the transition over the summer, and they changed their names and used different pronouns…so I was used to that.”

“Reading this story and how current it seems, and it’s not just about a transgender teen. It’s also about a family and how everyone’s dealing with it,” continued Fanning. “I just love Ray and I love his story and really wanted to tell it because he deserves it.”

Watts explained how she spoke with various mothers of transgender kids: “Some of the lines from the film are actually taken from their stories,” which helps add even more authenticity to the film. “When you hear something that says so much and it just connects with truth, it’s so valuable,” she said.

We couldn’t agree more.
