Dakota and Elle Fanning created media buzz in South Korea over the weekend when the sisters appeared in Seoul’s trendy downtown areas to shop.
The blonde teenagers were spotted Saturday by local fans in the Hongdae (Hongik University) area, known for its indie music, street fashion and club scene, and naturally for the world’s most wired country, paparrazi-esque shots taken on smartphones by curious onlookers soon went viral online.
Dakota Fanning is largely known in Korea through her role in I Am Sam and more recently for the Twilight movies. She also made headlines for being a fan of G-Dragon, a member of the Korean pop band Big Bang. Local media reported that Fanning’s agency tried to set up a meeting for the two but plans did not go through due to conflicting schedules.
Meanwhile, the younger sibling’s film The Nutcracker in 3D is currently showing in local theaters. The sisters, accompanied by their mother, also went on to tour Garosu-gil, Seoul’s equivalent of New York City’s Soho.
The two actresses were received by local press and fans when they arrived through Incheon International Airport earlier that day, sporting colorful bags by local accessories brand J. Estina. Their visit to Korea came in time to shoot promotional material for the label, whose other models have included figure skating champion Kim Yu-na and British model-cum-Skins star Kaya Scoledario.
The sisters are due to take part in various events, including an appearance on local television interview program Paik Ji-yeon’s People Inside, on which Hugh Jackman was recently a guest. [Source]
